I believe that the Bible is an essential part and trustworthy record of divine self-disclosure. I
accept and trust the Bible as the authority for the faith and practice of the church and for my life.
I believe that God eternally
exists in three Persons-the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit- and that these three are one God, having the same nature,
attributes, and perfections and worthy of the same worship, reverence, and obedience.
I believe that human beings were created in
the image of God, but sinned and fell through disobedience, and that the entire human race is lost and depraved.
I believe Jesus, the eternal Son
of God, took upon Himself the form of a human being by means of the virgin birth, lived a sinless life, yet retained His absolute
deity, being at the same time “very God and very man”.
I believe that atonement for sin was made by the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. Jesus
Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity. By his death in our stead, he revealed the divine love and upheld divine
justice, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God.
I believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into
heaven, and he intercedes for his people and rules as Lord over all.
I believe salvation is the gift of God by grace alone and received by personal faith
in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that this faith is manifested in works pleasing to God.
I believe the Holy Spirit is the promise of
the Father, the Comforter who indwells and places every believer in the Body of Christ, bestows spiritual gifts upon the Church
and convicts the world of sin and the judgment to come.
I believe the Holy Spirit renews our hearts, persuading us to repent of our sins and
confess Jesus as Lord. By the same Spirit we are forgiven and justified by faith alone through the merit of Christ our Savior,
and granted the free gift of eternal life. As we are led by the Spirit, I grow in the knowledge of the Lord, freely keeping
his commandments and endeavoring so to live in the world that all may see my good works and glorify my Father who is in heaven.
I believe that the sacraments
of the church are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. To be baptized with water is a central Christian response, signifying
acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior and being cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus. For children, this
faith is to be professed in confirmation. For adults, this faith is professed in the actual rite of baptism.
The Lord's Supper is also a central Christian response for the baptized, signifying remembrance of Jesus Christ’s
death on the cross even for me and celebration of the Lord Jesus Christ is truly present, pouring out his
Spirit upon us through breaking the bread and the cup that we share in our Lord’s own body and blood so that our communion
with Christ is renewed.
I believe that God’s redemptive purpose will be consummated by the return of Jesus Christ. The
wicked shall be separated from God’s presence, but the righteous, in glorious bodies, shall live and reign with God
forever.
I believe God is calling me to serve in the
Presbyterian Church, USA. As a Presbyterian pastor, I will obey the Book of Order and will do my best to teach
all based in sound biblical standard so that people will understand God’s will and love and receive salvation through
the Lord Jesus Christ.
